I have been working in the field of education for the last 8 years, and am so happy to be back in the world of preschool after spending some time with elementary students!  I love helping children with their social emotional development, and fostering the love of learning and new discoveries in my students during the most formative years of their education.  I have a degree in Human Development and Family Sciences from Oregon State University with endorsements in Early Childhood Education and Human Services.  My husband, two daughters and I live in the Rock Creek community and love spending time traveling and exploring new places!

I’m the preschool teacher at MSP! I joined the community in 2017 as a substitute teacher and immediately felt a connection to the school and the unique sense of community that exists among parents, teachers and the director. I have a degree in Human Development and Family Science from Oregon State University with an option in Human Services. I am married and have two kids; Ellen (7) Fritz (5). In my free time I love being outdoors whether it’s skiing, hiking, camping, or exploring all of Portland’s amazing parks!

This is my first year teaching at MSP and I am very excited to have joined the amazing team of teachers and staff here. I have more than fifteen years experience working with children; eight of which have been as a preschool lead teacher. I attended San Diego State University where I studied Education with an emphasis in Child Development. I really enjoy working with young children, promoting their social-emotional development and watching them discover, learn and grow while they’re in my class. I live in Bethany with my husband, son, daughter and dog. I like to spend my time going to the beach, baking, watching movies and trying out restaurants with my family.

I started my career working in a preschool while attending Linn Benton Community College and Western Oregon University.  I enrolled in the teaching program and in 2007, graduated from Western Oregon University with my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. I taught Fourth Grade and Kindergarten for several years in various places including Germany, Texas, California, and Oregon. My husband Justin and I have two great kids, Reagan age 6, and Kevin, age 3,  and two great cats.  In my free time, I love to travel, bake, and read!

I have been working in the field of Early Childhood Education dating back to 2000.  I have experienced both assistant and lead teacher roles, and enjoy all of my time spent in the classroom.  I have my Associates in Early Childhood Education and Family Studies and enjoy bridging the indoor classroom environment with the outdoor environment, bringing nature inside whenever possible.

When not helping to shape young minds, I enjoy spending time with my family.  My Husband and I are outdoors as much as possible, at choir concerts for our two daughters and spending lots of time with extended family.  We are also avid sports fans and are often at Timbers, Hops or TrailBlazer games.

I started working at MSP as a substitute, and fell in love with the kids, parents, and teachers, so I was excited to join the team in a more official capacity. I love working with kids and watching them learn and grow.  At my church I have worked with and taught young children for several years.  I am married and have two boys that attend a nearby elementary school.  In my free time I love to craft, sew, watch movies, and read a good book!

Hi, my name is Rio Hayes and I am from Ventura County California. I have always loved interacting with children and am so blessed to have been able to pursue this work as a career path. I believe children are God’s most precious possession and they deserve our absolute best as leaders and caregivers. I have been working with children for over ten years as both a teacher and a nanny and I am so excited to start this new year at such a wonderful school, with such bright children, and in such a beautiful state.
