I have been working in the field of education for the last 8 years, and am so happy to be back in the world of preschool after spending some time with elementary students!  I love helping children with their social emotional development, and fostering the love of learning and new discoveries in my students during the most formative years of their education.  I have a degree in Human Development and Family Sciences from Oregon State University with endorsements in Early Childhood Education and Human Services.  My husband, two daughters and I live in the Rock Creek community and love spending time traveling and exploring new places!

Jen Zwartverwer -  Teacher

I am the incoming preschool teacher. I joined the MSP community in 2017 as a substitute teacher and immediately felt a connection to the school and the unique sense of community that exists among parents, teachers and the director. I have a degree in Human Development and Family Science from Oregon State University with an option in Human Services. I am married and have two kids; Ellen (7) Fritz (5). In my free time I love being outdoors whether it’s skiing, hiking, camping, or exploring all of Portland’s amazing parks!

I am the lead teacher in the Seedlings class, and the afternoon Mixed Age classroom. I have a background mixed with love and work with both kids and animals! I love creating a community in my classroom complete with exciting circle time games and dance parties! In my free time my husband and I run a local track team, and enjoy going on beach adventures with our two pups! We also have two human kiddos - Julian who is 12 and Emory who is 8.

I am the assistant in the 4/5 Pre-K classroom. I am from Mexico City and bilingual with a Child Development Associate Degree. I have been working with children and in child development for the past 15 years. I love working with the children and strive to put as much love into my work as possible.

I also have a beautiful family that believes in Jesus Christ with four children and a wonderful husband.

I have been working in the field of Early Childhood Education dating back to 2000.  I have experienced both assistant and lead teacher roles, and enjoy all of my time spent in the classroom.  I have my Associates in Early Childhood Education and Family Studies and enjoy bridging the indoor classroom environment with the outdoor environment, bringing nature inside whenever possible.

When not helping to shape young minds, I enjoy spending time with my family.  My Husband and I are outdoors as much as possible, at choir concerts for our two daughters and spending lots of time with extended family.  We are also avid sports fans and are often at Timbers, Hops or TrailBlazer games.

Kelsey Rost - Assistant Teacher

I recently started working at MSP as a substitute, and fell in love with the kids, parents, and teachers, so I’m excited to join the team in a more official capacity. I love working with kids and watching them learn and grow.  At my church I have worked with and taught young children for several years.  I am married and have two boys that attend a nearby elementary school.  In my free time I love to craft, sew, watch movies, and read a good book!
